About

An independent practice, built on evidence

Dr. Shaquille Spearman, Ed.D. | Founder and Owner

L.A.W. of EDUCATION is an education organization based in Dallas, Texas. The name stands for Language Barriers, Academic Vocabulary, and Winning against Rigor. Our work draws on metacognition, self-regulated learning, assessment design, and instructional equity.

Our flagship brand is STEMatics. STEMatics is an animated STEM show for ages 8 to 12. Season 1 has ten episodes and is in production. Each episode comes with the STEMatics Experiment Lab, where children and the adults who support them try 30 guided, hands-on experiments in a web browser. There are no accounts, and a child's notes stay on that child's own device. The experiments are new and have not yet been tested with students in classrooms.

For educators, we build free tools for assessment and curriculum design and professional learning through L.A.W. Academy.

L.A.W. of EDUCATION is independently owned and operated. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any employer, university or client of its founder.

RepurposED Curriculum

Rethinking Learning Priorities

RepurposED is a curriculum model we are building. It is designed to organize instruction around standards, academic vocabulary and reflective learning. It is in development and is not yet available for use in schools.

Organized around standards, with a visible scope and sequence
Academic vocabulary taught across subjects
Tasks designed for transfer rather than memorization
Built-in reflection and self-assessment checkpoints
Designed for districts, schools and independent programs

Where it stands

The framework and scope and sequence are drafted. Pilot materials and classroom testing have not been produced yet, so there are no results to report.

We will describe its status plainly here as that changes. Nothing on this page is a promise of an outcome, and no date is set.
